John Gluckow
Lot JG-44 Blanket Pattern Makinaw
The Mackinaw Blanket Coat is known for its tightly woven wool waterproof fabric, hip-length coat, and rounded shawl collar. In the early 1800s, a British officer stationed in Canada near Mackinac Island desperately needed warm winter coats for his men. He ordered a wool blanket from Hudson’s Bay Company, and the blanket coat was born. Crafted from a beautifully patterned wool developed for the White Stag Co the previous year, the Mackinaw Blanket Coat features a shawl collar, two low patch pockets, and strap cuffs. Simple and charming, I hope you love it as much as I do. 75% wool, 25% cotton, jacquard, original nut buttons
