Based on vintage designs from the 1960s that are both pop and classy,
this gem has been rearranged with thicker canvas fabric!

The Lightning custom-made newsprint bag, released in the summer of 2023, was a huge hit. The project began when we discovered a rare vintage piece with patch pockets on the sides, and we decided to create a custom version that retained the original details while adding subtle adjustments.

This is the second installment. As you can see, the standout feature is the vintage-inspired two-tone design! While two-tone designs became more common starting in the 1960s, the classic font and refined quality of the print are reminiscent of earlier versions. We imagined what a Lightning Magazine newspaper bag might have looked like in that era, aiming for a design that is both playful and sophisticated, with a strong vintage vibe.

The material used is a thicker, approximately 19-ounce (No. 6) canvas, with a two-tone design in natural (unbleached) and orange. As mentioned previously, one of the major appeals of this design is its ability to age and develop a vintage-like faded appearance due to strong sunlight. This time, we have retained that element while emphasizing the vintage aesthetic in the design. The orange parts fade, and the natural parts become worn and dull, giving the entire bag a charming vintage-like aged appearance. The thicker canvas fabric has also been reinforced with stronger stitching and rivets, enhancing the bag’s durability. This allows you to use it daily and enjoy the aging process.

The details remain the same as before. The adjustable strap, designed with cycling in mind, is still present. We custom-ordered an adjustment buckle for the wide strap (approximately 6.5 cm), allowing it to fit snugly against the body. Additionally, the side patch pocket is large enough to hold a 500ml PET bottle, making it extremely practical
