The “2nd Magazine Salesman Bag,” released in July 2023, caused a huge stir as the “designated bag” chosen by 2nd readers and the editorial department. Two years have passed since then, and the long-awaited second installment has finally arrived. Once again, it has been produced in collaboration with sister magazines Lightning and Clutch.
Originally, newspaper bags were used for delivering newspapers, and it was common for them to feature text to promote the name of the newspaper being delivered. Most vintage examples feature designs with the name of the newspaper company or business engraved on them.
While the previous version adopted the classic style of printing the “2nd” name on the bag, this time we opted for a different approach, creating a newspaper bag with illustrations instead of text.
The illustration features an Irish Setter holding a newspaper. This dog breed is also featured on the “Red Wing” tag, a familiar name in the Americana fashion scene, highlighting its connection to fashion. The illustration is meticulously detailed, with each strand of fur rendered precisely, and the newspaper features the text “2nd Magazine,” showcasing the bag’s attention to detail.
The body color features brown handles, pockets, and flaps, while the main body of the bag is beige. This versatile color scheme complements any style, and its sophisticated tone is sure to be a staple in your daily wardrobe.
While the design is understated for a custom-made item, this subtlety is a welcome feature for adults. The result is a refined yet practical bag perfect for everyday use.
