Description
In the 1960s, the US military procurement headquarters in Japan chose to procure camouflage uniforms from Japan. This was because Japan had advanced printing technology, rapid productivity, and was also cost-effective. The pattern was left to the discretion of factories all over Japan, which is why countless variations in tiger stripe patterns were created. Many of the early tiger stripes were made in Japan, but some were sent to Okinawa for sewing, and some were also manufactured in Thailand and around Vietnam during the later stages of the Vietnam War. March 1965 was the year the United States intervened in the Vietnam War, but the Vietnam War was also a battle against an invisible enemy hidden in the jungle. Tiger stripes were created with the aim of assimilating into the Vietnamese jungle. The small pockets on the sleeves were used to store cigarettes or small bottles of water purification tablets, which were essential for water collected in areas with poor water quality. the same Shirt jacket was worn by Deniro in The Deer Hunter and by Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now.
